Take One Picture
2025 was the first year of being involved in the Take One Picture project and the event was much loved by staff and students alike. We devoted a whole week to the project, with the school being completely off timetable, focussing only on the painting and creating inspiring artwork.
The painting, ‘Regatta on the grand canal‘ by Canaletto, was introduced to the children in their classrooms where the children then followed different lines of enquiry in their classes before creating their own child led projects based on their ideas from the painting.
A School trip to the National Gallery also took place so that some of our aspiring artists could see the painting first hand. It was a wonderful experience for the children.
At the end of the project, the children had produced over five hundred pieces of work. A phenomenal achievement from Nursery through to Year Six. Everyone within the school was involved.
A selection of the children’s artwork was complied to create our very own celebratory ‘Regatta on the grand canal’ art exhibition. Not only did every child and member of staff visit the exhibition but parents, members of the community and external visitors came to see the children’s outstanding artwork.
